I am Lisa Diaz, RN, BSN. I have been a member of NAHN since 2007. I am currently a graduate student at UCLA, pursuing my MSN in Nursing Administration and due to graduate June 2010. I completed my BSN at CSUDH and ADN from Cerritos College. I have been a nurse for 10 years, currently working at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital (PIH) in Whittier in the Intensive Care Unit. I have worked in PACU and in the general medical surgical units in a charge/lead nurse role. I am an active member of the shared governance council at PIH. I have also worked in quality/risk management at Kindred Hospital of Westminster.
I was the recipient of the NAHN 2009 scholarship award and a National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurses Association (NCEMNA) research award. I am active with the Graduate Student Nurses Association at UCLA and a student member of Association of Nurse Leaders (ACNL). I was also a research assistant on a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) - KNF: Kids N Fitness, a program aimed at researching and helping the Hispanic community understand fitness and nutrition to prevent childhood obesity.
