1. Good Standing

Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program or higher education nursing program.

Letter of Recommendation Requirements

  • Be from members of the academic community or nurse manager.

  • The recommendation letters must be sent from a valid institution’s email address.

  • The letter of recommendation should be a brief statement describing the student's character and motivation toward success.

  • Recommendation letters received from the applicant’s email address will NOT be accepted.

  • A letter of recommendation must be submitted via email to: 
    lanahn.membership@gmail.com
    Attn: Scholarship Committee

Step 2: Submitting Documents

When submitting the required documents, please write the following in the subject line: "Scholarship Application – Last name, First name”

Submit all attachments in this order:

  1. Copy of CA driver’s License.

  2. Resume/CV

  3. Proof of enrollment to the college/university being attended.

  4. Copy of unofficial transcripts.

  5. Proof of current LANAHN membership (copy of paid membership invoice must show LA NAHN CHAPTER affiliation).

  6. Essay

2026 Spring Scholarship Essay Requirement

The essay must be typed and double-spaced and must not exceed the word count (1000 words).

 

Please choose one of the following:

  1. ​In what ways do you believe emerging technologies, such as AI, will affect the quality and accessibility of healthcare for Hispanic populations, and how can nurses help bridge potential gaps or disparities created by these innovations?

  2. Discuss the importance of the Spanish language in providing safe, respectful, and effective care to Hispanic patients. How has your language ability or your commitment to developing it prepared you to better serve this community?

  3. Why is it important for nurses to join professional organizations dedicated to improving healthcare for Hispanic communities? Discuss the value of mentorship and volunteering and how you plan to contribute your time and skills in these areas.

2026 Spring Scholarship Process
​

  • The 2026 LA NAHN Spring Scholarship application opens April 1st. All documents must be received by May 2, 2026.

  • We encourage applicants to start preparing their materials  well in advance of deadline in order to allow for sufficient time to obtain letters of recommendation 

  • Scholarship awardees will be announced at our Annual Meeting, May 9th.
